Tara Headband
|
Tara Headband
This headband is based on the one worn by Tara in Enter the Lost World
of the Warlord, the 1970's comic by Mike Grell. The band, made of gold-tone
brass, curves into a downward point in both front and back, but is so carefully
fitted that the rounded points do not so much as touch the skin. The ornament in
front is hand repoussed sterling silver; neither the fangs nor ears will bother
the wearer. This headband is made to fit someone whose head measures 20 to 21
inches and is so comfortably fitted it can be worn for long periods without
noticing it there.
Sterling Silver Ornament with Brass Band
Size: 20 to 21 inches

Dancing Bird Goddess Drawing Down the Moon
|
Dancing Bird Goddess Drawing Down the Moon
This is a double-sided pendant. On one side is set a 30x40 mm cabachon of howlite,
a natural mineral, dyed turquoise blue. It is surrounded by a silver braid and punched border.
On the other side, done in overlay style, is the figure of a Minoan Dancing Bird Goddess
drawing down the moon. The image is inspired by a seal-stone documented by Marija Gimbutas,
as well as the image in Margo Adler's Drawing Down the Moon. The back is not flat, but has
an undulating, wavy surface. It has a loop at top for a chain or cord. Antiqued finish to
make it appear old.
Sterling Silver
Size: 1.5 by 2.5 inches; 39 grams.
If you need a custom chain for this pendant, pleast contact our silversmith.

Dragon and Ammonite
|
Dragon and Ammonite
This Dragon and Ammonite arm band is hand repoussed sterling silver with a fossil
ammonite set into the dragon's forehead. In Medieval times and earlier, the ammonite
fossil was believed to be a gemstone that grew in the skull of a dragon and, accordingly,
was known as "draconite;" anyone wearing such a treasure bound to the upper arm was
deemed invulnerable. This ammonite is back-set into the piece in such a way that a
small opening allows it to touch the wearer's arm. The band is adjustable for most sizes.
The tips of the band are set with red coral, another powerful gem of the ancients.
Sterling Silver
Sized for a medium man's arm; somewhat adjustable.
If you need another size, please contact our silversmith.

Iron Spearhead
|
Iron Spearhead
I forged this iron spearhead on the morning of Imbolc, February 2, 2003. The blade has been
trued by some hot filing, but
has not been ground; it has been case hardened but is not very sharp. The coloration
is as it came from the forge, and is protected by a layer of lacquer that will wear a
way with use.
Iron
Measures 10 inches long with a five inch blade.
It is meant to be set by its tapered tang into a spear shaft, but could also be set
into a shorter handle for an interesting athame; contact us if you would like a
wooden handle added. Not for sale to Massachusetts because of the double edge.
